The Tamil film ‘Farhana’ directed by Nelson Venkatesan and starring Aishwarya Rajesh is all set to release on May 12. The film has been surrounded by controversy and demands for a ban since the teaser was released, hinting at the film’s theme of the emotional problems faced by women in society, particularly IT company employees and Muslim girls.
Despite the backlash, the filmmakers have maintained that ‘Farhana’ is an entertaining quality film that will resonate with everyone. Director Nelson Venkatesan stated that the film is not about religion but an emotional story about the human mind, inspired by his upbringing in a Muslim-majority area in Chennai.
Apart from Aishwarya Rajesh, the film also features Malayalam star Anumol and director Selvaraghavan, Jithan Ramesh, and Aishwarya Dutta in prominent roles. Dream Warrior Pictures, the production company behind popular films such as ‘Dheeran Adhikaram Udi’, ‘Aruvi’, and ‘Kaiti’, has produced the film, which is being distributed by Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu.
