Train services in the Kashmir Valley, which were disrupted since 3rd August ahead of the abrogation of provisions of Article 370, will resume tomorrow.
A successful trial run of the train from Srinagar to Baramulla was conducted today. A Northern Railway official said the services on this stretch will begin tomorrow. He said train services from Srinagar to Banihal in Jammu region will resume in the next phase shortly.
As per the officials, the government had taken certain measures keeping in mind the safety of people. Before taking the trial, security agencies in the valley had given a green signal to the resumption of the rail service.
For Kashmiris, the train is a lifeline. This is also a cheaper medium to travel in less time. Our trains are safe and tracks have no damage,” said Sudhir Kumar, a senior railway official.
