The frustrated Pakistan over PM Modi’s bold actions, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has announced that the Imran Khan government has decided to invite Manmohan Singh to the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor opening ceremony instead of the Country’s Prime Minister.
Asserting that the Kartarpur Corridor holds great importance and value for Pakistan, Qureshi said that it was after ‘detailed discussion and consultation’ the decision was taken to avoid PM Modi during the function, but though not a surprise, invited Manmohan Singh for the opening ceremony. Qureshi justified his invitation saying the former Prime Minister is highly respected in Pakistan for his strong religious faith!
The Kartarpur corridor is being built by India and Pakistan to connect Darbar Sahib — the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev — in Pakistan’s Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. In a meeting held between the diplomats, a decision was made to facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims.
The Corridor is scheduled to be opened on November 9, 2019.
