According to the Kerala health department, 95.8 per cent of coronavirus infections in the state showed mild symptoms. The research also says that 3.6 percent had significant symptoms where as only 0.6 percent had severe symptoms. However, the study underlines that 42% of the people showed no symptoms. The result is based on a study conducted on 500 patients.
Meanwhile, Kerala reported 449 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in his daily press briefing. Out of the total COVID positive cases, 144 developed the disease through contact. Meanwhile, 162 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
So far, 2,44,388 samples have been sent for testing. Out of this, results of 5,407 samples are awaited. As part of sentinel surveillance, 78,002 samples were collected from priority groups. Out of which 74,676 samples were negative. There are 223 hotspots in the state at present.
Special action plan has been prepared to prevent the disease transmission in coastal areas. There are 51 clusters in the state currently, including 2 large community clusters, the CM said.
