30 doctors of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology in the capital city of Kerala have been put under surveillance at home. This is following an incident where a doctor who returned from Spain tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The Radiology lab of the Sree Chitra Tirunal hospital where the doctor is attached has been shut.
Meanwhile, Union Minister V. Muraleedharan on Saturday sought an explanation from the hospital authorities as recently he had taken part in a meeting at the hospital. As per reports, prior to the meeting, the minister’s office asked the hospital authorities if any precautionary measures need to be taken, however, the hospital said not necessary.
As per reports, V. Muraleedharan’s office is of the opinion that the hospital concealed the fact that a doctor from the hospital is an infected patient. The minister’s office demanded an explanation from the hospital director.
The doctor who is tested positive for coronavirus infection had visited the hospital for 3 days after his Spain visit. Hence his associates and other doctors were kept under observation and the radiology lab where he worked has been ordered to be closed. There are reports that surgeries too may be temporarily put off.
