The State Election Commission has issued guidelines to be followed during the upcoming local body elections. Two lakh government employees will be appointed for the election duties.
Only 10 persons will be deployed as booth agents in each polling station. No queue system will be there for elderly, specially-abled and patients.
The district collectors will soon summon the political parties to inform of the election guidelines soon.
For filing nomination papers, meetings, scrutiny of the nomination papers and candidate setting in EVMs, special hall with plenty of air circulation has to be ensured. In case of meetings of political parties, 40 persons can attend. Special time slot will be provided to the candidates from containment zones to file nomination papers.
The returning officer may hold meeting of candidates and parties belonging to more than one ward together to explain Model Code of Conduct. Covid positive candidates shouldn’t participate in election campaign.
One bus will be allotted for polling officers of 4 booths together. Soap, water and sanitizer should be ensured where voting slips are handed over outside the booth. Polling officers should wear gloves, face masks and shields.
Election Commission will conduct awareness class for voters, parties and candidates ahead of the polls.
