In a shocking revelation, a 13-year-old girl in Kozhikode said that psychoactive drug sellers used her as a carrier. Police allegedly failed to look into the matter while probing a complaint from her parents under the POCSO Act.
The girl, hailing from Azhiyoor in Vadakara, disclosed the activities of the drug mafia prevalent in the area after school authorities caught students under suspicious circumstances.
She said that a woman earned her trust and started to give her drug-laced biscuits regularly. Later, the woman, and her male friend, forced the girl to be a drug carrier.
“A fellow student in my Kabadi class introduced me to the woman. She gave me biscuits, and I ate them. She continued to meet me every day and give me biscuits,” she said. It was only later that she learned that biscuits were laced with drugs.
Later, the woman escorted the girl to an alley near the school and introduced her to a man claiming to be the woman’s boyfriend. She added that the man gave her a “white powder” and made her inhale it through her nose. He also asked her whether she could take a packet to a place and deliver it to another man. However, she refused to comply with the demand despite meeting him more than once.
She added that the man also gave her an injection in her arm and asked her to carry baggage to Thalassery. He also showed a bottle containing an unrecognised liquid and threatened to pour it over her if she refused to comply with his demands. The man also drew a sign on her leg, to allow the recipient to identify her. Following this, the girl lied to her family, boarded a bus to Thalassery and handed the package over to a man at a mall.
The incident came to light after school authorities caught four students leaving the washroom under suspicious conditions. The school informed the parents of the incident. She also told authorities that many students in the school are also using similar drugs.
Her parents later filed a complaint before Chombala Police Station. The family alleged that police official failed to take any action. The family also alleged that two DYFI workers threatened them to withdraw the complaint. Following this, the family filed a complaint to the Chief Minister.
Chombala Police claimed they received a complaint under the POCSO Act and the statement did not mention connection to the drug mafia. Police have questioned a man in connection with the complaint.
