To counter the exigencies arising out of the potential third wave of Covid, more than 10 lakh people in 6,000 development blocks have been trained, said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Manmohan Vaidya at a press conference in Hyderabad, Telangana. He was speaking after the conclusion of the two-day annual Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak (coordination meeting) of the chief functionaries of various organizations inspired by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Sewa Bharati, the RSS-inspired social service organisation, had carried out a massive service activity in the wake of the first and second waves of the pandemic. With the emergence of Omicron variant, the country is anticipating a third wave.
According to the RSS leader, shakhas which were closed during first pandemic have restarted now. Compared to 2019 October, the Sangh work has restarted in 93% places. Vaidya said there is an increasing interest among the youths to join the RSS work. There are at present 55,000 shakhas in the country.
Answering questions raised by the media, Dr. Vaidya explained that Sangh is in the work of consolidating the entire society and an aware society will solve problems.
Bharat has historically not been a welfare state and whenever necessary the society has sought assistance from the government, Rabindranath Tagore expressed the same in his book Swadeshi Samaaj.
Diversity should not be seen as differences he said. Bharat’s tradition has been focussing on spiritual oneness. National Education Policy has expressed our spiritual diversity.
Swayamsevaks through Samajika Samarasta initiatives are working to eradicate caste discrimination and social harmony. Intellectuals across the country are bringing awareness for decolonization in all fields, he said. On the goal of the Sangh, Vaidya said his organisation has been working to make Bharat the greatest and noblest country in the world.
Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Sunil Ambekar also participated in the press meet.
